A good bay to keep the fishing boats anchored. Welligama Bay between Galle and Matara.

This island located in the Welligama Bay has been bought in the 19th century by a french eccentric                    aristocrat who made it his and his  friends home.  Today there is a Hotel inside the protected
                                                       monument of architecture.

Welligama Bay with fishing boats. When the boats return lucky, the fish will be sold right beside the                                                              boats alongside the main road.

Of cause Cricket. Very interesting activity for the islanders.
A nice boat, with nets, all ready to go once the time for fishing has come. The valuable outboard engine will be brought and mounted a couple minutes before the crew will push the boat into the sea.

A vintage letter box. Still fulfilling its role on the road side. These are made from cement and concrete with steel reinforcements and an iron door. King George V Crest of cause.
Here is the next King on display: With a nice George VI crest still on duty. Cement and Concrete version.
Lasts for ever despite the tropical climate and the sea breeze.
This must be a nice beach restaurant in Mirissa Bay.

This was painted on somebodies property gate in the style of Kandyan Art. A beautiful contribution to the environment and visible to all by passers. Slowly the humidity of the air loaded with salt close to the ocean is dissolving this masterpiece.
